I will not defend the subsidies they receive, but Exxon’s profit margin for 2011 was only 9.75%, slightly less than the gas/oil industry average. For every dollar the company collected, 90 cents were paid right back out as costs. 

But how does that compare to other companies? Google and Apple both had profit margins in excess of 25%.

But let’s look at another giant, subsidy-receiving company — this time, Siemens AG. They expect their wind turbine business to show a 10% profit margin — even more than Exxon.  

So what are you really complaining about? Are you complaining about the subsidies? Are you complaining because it’s an oil company? Or are you complaining because you don’t like the idea of profits?

And yet they and other oil-profiteers still get incredible tax-subsidies and are hardly held accountable for endangering - and often wrecking - the environment. 

That’s just really, really sick.
